CUBE mapping and modding tips

OK --
You've downloaded CUBE and played through most (if not all) of the levels it comes with.

Now you're inspired to make your OWN levels, or maybe you want to shoot up Homer Simpson instead of the Oggro monster, or maybe you just want to play some of your OWN .mp3's as your soundtrack(s) when playing CUBE --

I'm going to explain how to do all of these things on this page. Check back often, as i'll be updating this page until I get a pretty thorough tutorial up on getting you OWN level finished in CUBE. Obviously the first (and best) thing to do FIRST is READ ALL of the documentation on CUBE EDITING that came with the game.

Have some specific questions on CUBE?
While I can't help you with coding or compiling your own version of the CUBE source code, i'll be happy to help you with anything I can --

HOW TO PLAY YOUR OWN .MP3's AS SOUNDTRACKS IN CUBE
1.) create a new folder inside the CUBE directory as directed below:
CUBE/Packages/mp3s

2.) put some of your favorite .mp3's in the new folder

HOT TIP: you might want to make them EASIER to play later by re-naming them 01.mp3, 02.mp3, 03.mp3, etc.

3.) start CUBE and begin playing the level of your choice

4.) hit the tilde key ( ~ ) yeah, the little squiggly thingie

5.) type in (without the quotes) "music mp3s/01.mp3"

6.) your 01.mp3 should now be playing in CUBE

7.) you can play any of the .mp3's from your new folder you like;
just type in the .mp3 name EXACTLY as it is is labeled in your new folder and be SURE you've got them iside the CUBE/Packages/mp3s directory that you just made!
